Back in Texas, when I knew we were moving to the north, I started researching Minnesota and found a few images of Minnehaha’s waterfalls frozen over. I got so excited! I knew we had to explore this place, to climb the mountain of ice, to make it behind these falls. So when we moved up north, we made sure to have our very own Minnehaha frozen falls adventure our very first winter.
We’ve learned that Minnesota winter can be stark and difficult and oh so cold, but with those trade-offs comes some truly unique and natural beauty. Minnehaha Falls in the depths of winter is one of those wonders. We love living in a place where we can explore in every season, and find something new and beautiful and wondrous no matter the odds.
We’re excited to share it with you 🙂
The stunning blue of the frozen wall of water from within was breathtaking.
From outside, the falls looked like thick white cloth cascading from the winter-darkened sandstone.
We hope you enjoyed joining us for our Minnehaha frozen falls adventure! These days, the frozen falls are off limits to explorers due to the dangers the slippery area can pose, so we can’t advocate that you go exploring there yourself.
But we can say, if you love this park, you’ll love strolling through some of our favorite engagement and adventure sessions there! Check out Erin and Andy’s cave exploration, Bre and James in the Minnehaha dog park, and Annalee and Lorenze’s flirty spring shots!
