We here at Penny Photographics make no secret of our love of dogs and our love of first looks. So can you imagine our excitement when Laura and Dan told us they were doing a pet first look?! Why do we love these wedding options so much? Let us elaborate.

First Looks are fast becoming a modern wedding tradition, as tried and true as waiting to see each other down the aisle. Their biggest perks, in our opinion, are in allowing you and your partner the opportunity to see each other for the first time on your wedding day in privacy. It makes for an intimate and often emotional moment (which translates to treasured photographs). Plus, if you’re nervous, we’ve had tons of couples share that first looks help calm their later ceremony nerves.

Including your pet in your wedding is a personal choice based wholly on your wedding day, venue, and your pet’s needs – we know not all good dogs can handle the excitement of a big event 🙂 If including your pet on the big day does work out for you, doing a pet first look is not just fun but can create some neat opportunities for pet-loving captures! Plus, it can help keep your pup calm for later events if they’ve had the chance to see you both all dolled up and give you the sniff-down.
