It can be tough to get hitched in winter in Minnesota – one day there’s 12 inches of snow on the ground, the next it’s sunny…and -30! But there are also tons of perks to a winter wedding. There’s less venue competition, for one, and you get to throw a party for all your friends and family in the middle of the doldrums of the dark months! For Melanie and Sam’s winter wedding, they incorporate elements of the holidays to give their big day a cosy and festive feel.
Melanie and Sam shared their vows in the historic Saint Paul Athletic Club – a beautiful venue located in the heart of downtown St. Paul. The Club boasts turn-of-the-century stylings with gorgeous vaulted ceilings, corniced balconies, and floor-to-ceiling windows. Beyond its historic beauty, the venue offers hardwood dance space, a stage for entertainment, on-site accommodations at Hotel 340, and supportive staff. On their day-of, Melanie gifted Sam with the sweetest scrapbook of their adventures together.
Melanie and Sam have one of our favorite love stories: they met through an online dating, but it was Melanie’s first day on the app and Sam’s last day. He logged on to delete his profile when they caught sight of each other’s profiles 🙂
For their proposal, Sam fulfilled one of Melanie’s lifelong goals by booking a hot air balloon ride with a family friend. After a bouncy and windy landing at the front of a storm, he popped the question!
